Font - Sick shaming twice yesterday. Older generations should back off. Yesterday at work I went to grab a coffee and usually I stop at the reception desk to have a chat, because the receptionist and I are almost the same age and we have a good connection. Apparently she wasn't there, so I went to ask around and they told me she was sick. Oh okay!

Font - Two hours later someone tells me she's arrived, so I go down to the reception and the receptionist doesn't look good. She begins to explain she had to go do a covid test, but she came to work anyway out of guilt. Apparently she had been gone half a day last week because of an irregular heartbeat, but work called her and asked her to come in, because it was busy... wtf. So when she called in sick today they just replied "oh... again?" and she immediately received an invite for a talk with

Font - I advised her not to come in when sick because 1) she could infect others and 2) HR will get the impression she's faking. By the way, we're a small company and the head of HR was present, so she could just ask what the conversation would be about.

Font - The receptionist before leaving for the day. Apparently HR had berated her for being absent twice in a week time. They sort of assumed the receptionist might be partying too much. OH C'MON, this girl has been working for you with a student contract for over a year and she's barely been absent. Now has her fixed contract, what would have changed?? came to my desk

Font - I went home and found my girlfriend at home, she had become sick during the day. She told me her boss had complained when my girlfriend requested to go home because "she had just returned from a week long holiday". JESUS CHRIST, WOULD YOU SHUT UP?? PTO doesn't assure you not getting sick. It's flu season. We are not going to suffer on or for our jobs like you boomers think you had to do. It's enough, Get a life!

Font - Reis_Asher 3 hr. ago Literally had an older coworker tell me that she had a mini-stroke and went to work (at her previous employer). She was very proud of this. I stood there gobsmacked, like, that's not something to be proud of! That's legitimately awful! 33 Reply Share

Font - BeaterX909. 1 hr. ago Well. Easy solution.. next time these older guys come to offive when sick.. just ask them how they feel as if u care.. when they come back after getting well.. crack a public joke on them calling them virus.. make it look like its light hearted.. if it catches on.. that boss is going to get shamed to retirement

Font - pakulio404 2 hr. ago I worked in a grocery store and our manager was telling us how when he started he was never absent for work. He said there was a time when he came in and management had to send him home because he looked so bad, and talked about it like it was something to be proud of. I just kept thinking, that's not the inspiring story you think it is.

Font - South3y 8 hr. ago edited 7 hr. ago Boomers were working and suffering for something worth having, like a house and a career. You're not going to get any of that. No wonder your attitude is What you're getting out of it isn't worth what they want you to sacrifice. You're going to spend your entire career working to pay for their retirement, and have nothing to show for it at the end.

Font - Old-Indication1566. 2 hr. ago No wonder boomers falsely believe coming into work sick is working hard and necessary suffering. When in reality you are costing your company more money than if you had just stayed at home and got well.

Font - RedRapunzal 2 hr. ago Years ago, worked at an office that had specific materials on the floor. I sat about 25ft from the materials. However, the chemical smell or whatever had my asthma out of control. I used additional meds (couldn't take off) and desperately suffered. Another person was suffering and yet another ended up in the ER. Asked them to move the materials. Nope, they were only going to be there a few more days. I was speechless.

Font - ZMiltonS 2 hr. ago Pretty much every person in the cubicles around me is sick right now. It's a lot of coughing and sniffling all day. They refuse to miss work and it pisses me off because I know it's just a matter of time until they get me sick and I'm not coming in when it happens.
